How to Plan a Trip with Parkinson’s disease

If you have Parkinson’s disease and you wish to travel, the condition should not make you shelf your plans.  If you visit a travel clinic for advice, then prepare in the right manner and you can enjoy trips to almost any part of the world without having to worry. While you make preparations to travel with Parkinson’s disease, however, be sure to get all the required and recommended vaccines for the destination you are headed to. This is important so that you have high immunity during the trip. With that said, here is a brief look at how you can travel if you have Parkinson’s disease:

Enough rest days

One aspect of traveling when you have Parkinson’s disease is to plan for lots of rest. Have a travel companion and plan for enough rest days with slightly longer stopovers in the various locations.

Have a letter outlining your condition

Get a letter from your doctor detailing your condition, treatment and any other special allowances that may be necessary during the trip. Also be sure to take extra medication and confirm if any adjustments will be necessary when you go through different time zones.

Advise the airlines and the tour operators in advance

Let the airline you will be using and the tour operators know about your condition in good time. This is so that they may prepare adequately for your arrival and ensure you have everything you will need. For instance, if you need wheelchair transfer at the airport, or you have troubles with using the stairs, arrangements can always be made to help you stay as comfortable as possible.

Get the necessary paperwork if you have a neurotransmitter

If you have a neurotransmitter, it will always interfere with the airport security and to avoid unnecessary arguments simply get the necessary paperwork.
