If you are traveling to a different country then there are different aspects that you will have to look into and one of them will be ensuring you do not face health problem while you are away from your home.
Our aim here will be to look into pre-travel assessment you should avail before your travel and aspects to look into if it becomes necessary for you to travel with prescription drugs.
How to get health advice before my travel?
You should consult your health care provider or go to a travel clinic to get pre-travel assessment of your health.
Preferably, you should go for such assessment at least 6 weeks before your planned journey. The reason is that more than one dose is required for many of the vaccines and there are vaccines which cannot be given together with other vaccines.
By having enough time in hand you will be able to complete the vaccination schedule well before your departure date.
Moreover, you will have to keep note of the fact that busy travel clinics will not be able to give you appointment right away. As such, by planning well-ahead of time you will have the assurance that you will get all the required services.
Additionally, while visiting a travel clinic you should also bring along the immunization record so that it becomes easier for the travel clinic to understand kind of vaccination you will need.
What if I need to travel with prescription drugs?
If it is necessary for you to travel and carry along prescription drugs then you should ideally keep a note of explanation provided by your health care provider. This way you will be able to avoid problems during customs checks. Few of the other things you must do include:
- Ensure that there is a clear pharmacy or hospital label over the drug container. This label should have your name, pharmacy’s name, dosage for the medication, and medication’s name.
- Carry a copy of the prescription that contains details such as brand and generic names of the all the medications.
